Survey Design Tidbit #12: Open-Ended Questions

If you want to know how your respondents feel about a specific topic, ask open-ended questions to understand their though process.

Instead of restricting participants to a list of answer options, give them the opportunity to express their honest opinion.

For example, take a look at the question below:

In this case, wouldn’t you want to collect feedback to optimize customer experience?

Just remember to use open-ended questions moderately as these may exhaust your survey participants.
